Rising in Grace, Shining in Righteousness

The Boys and Girls Conference unfolded in Yaoundé as a gathering of faith, learning, and renewal. Centered on the theme “Growing and Glowing in God’s Righteousness”, the event brought together young people, families, leaders, and partners in a communion that blended worship, reflection, and celebration. Across sessions of prayer, teaching, and fellowship, participants were invited to embrace a deeper understanding of spiritual growth while nurturing their minds, relationships, and communities.

The conference opened with heartfelt expressions of unity, where voices rose in praise and the anthem of Girls for Change reminded all of a collective mission rooted in service and compassion. Messages of hope were delivered with clarity, calling the youth to anchor their lives in righteousness while engaging with the realities of health, family, and personal responsibility. Through interactive workshops, themes ranging from mental wellness to financial literacy revealed the importance of living faith in every aspect of daily life.

Beyond teaching, the gathering became a stage for dialogue. Men and women exchanged insights on relationships, young people explored the challenges of identity, and plenary sessions wove together the threads of every reflection. Songs and testimonies added a melody of gratitude, while prayers sealed each moment with reverence. By sharing both burdens and victories, the participants found strength in community and purpose in shared vision.

The cultural evening crowned the encounter with colors, rhythms, and traditions, showing that the Gospel embraces both diversity and heritage. Traditional attire and vibrant performances offered a reminder that faith flourishes when it engages both spirit and culture. As the benediction closed the meeting, the commitment to continue shining in righteousness resonated as a lasting echo.

Central to this edition was the presence of Reverend Jinkwen Eric, whose teaching journey has inspired many since his call to ministry. With academic grounding in theology and transformational leadership, he carries a mission to guide believers toward their inheritance in Christ. Together with his wife, he leads a center dedicated to empowering women and girls, ensuring that the message of redemption extends into practical acts of social transformation. His contribution at the conference left a strong imprint, aligning perfectly with the vision of nurturing responsible citizens and future builders of homes and communities.

Born in Baham nearly two decades ago, the movement behind this gathering has evolved with resilience. Originally known as Girls for Christ, it expanded from mentoring teenagers to supporting married women, weaving intergenerational learning into its fabric. Renamed Girls for Change in 2021 to comply with legal requirements while preserving its mission, the organization has never departed from its core vision: rescuing and uplifting vulnerable girls and women so they may stand as pillars of society. This conference reaffirmed that promise, offering not only teaching but also a renewed sense of belonging and hope.
